Certifying Birth Doula, Certifying Postpartum Doula
St. John's and Surrounding, virtual
Samantha is a mom of two beautiful children, a clinical social worker with both Bachelor and Master degrees in social work, and a certifying birth and postpartum doula. Perinatal mental health and wellbeing is a topic close to Samantha’s heart. Samantha has personally navigated the perinatal period and encountered the issues within the system first hand. She has also worked in a professional capacity with perinatal mental health and wellbeing, having served as part of the education committee for the Perinatal Mental Health Alliance of NL, and working alongside service users in a social work role.
Samantha practices from a trauma-informed, neuro-affirming, and gender-affirming place. Samantha has specialized clinical/therapeutic training and interests in trauma, including childhood trauma/adverse childhood experiences, intergenerational trauma, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (and C-PTSD), perinatal mental health and birth trauma, regulating the nervous system, and neurodiversity. She is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy (DNMS), crisis intervention, and is a certified Clinical Services Provider for individuals with ADHD. Samantha's goal is to support you so that you feel informed, safe, and confident in your perinatal journey. I want the people I work with (birth and non-birth partners - when applicable) to feel safe, heard, respected, and in control of their experience, no matter how the journey unfolds.
